It was with sadness that the community learned of the death of Brendan Harvey, after a short illness, on Sunday morning. Brendan played for the club during the 1950’s and 1960’s and served on the committee that was instrumental in the clubs re-formation of 1966/67. Brendan was also a great ‘helper’ around the club and in particular along with his nephew Seamus Harvey and his good friend Frank Delaney took great pride in having Pairc na Gael in immaculate condition. Brendan also gave a great dedication to Camogie in Ballymacnab right back from the 1950’s and to the present day and was also known to act in manys a play held in the hall. At the clubs 2007 Dinner Dance, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the reformation of the football club, Brendan was among the invited guest to share in the celebration. Many of his former team mates turned out to form a guard of honour at his funeral mass and along with club members. In many sense Brendan was a true Gael and very much a loyal servant to the Ballymacnab Community. We offer our deepest sympathy to his wife Nellie, his daughters and entire family circle.
