BALLYMACNAB ROUND TOWERS GFC Newsletter – 29/05/17

 

SENIOR

Our Senior had a 1-20 to 1-12 victory over Wolfe Tones on Sunday in the League, Ryan Watters grabbed the second half goal. Next game – Friday 2 June Culloville (Home), throw in @8pm

 

RESERVES

The Reserve game last week v Carrickcruppen was postponed. Championship action begins this Wednesday with an away game to Mullaghbawn @745pm. We wish players and management all the best of luck!

 

UNDER 18

No games until after the exam break.

 

UNDER 16

The Under 16s have a challenge match v Edendork in Ballymacnab @ 730pm

 

UNDER 14

The Under 14s had a challenge match last Tuesday away to Tullysaran. They are back to league action on Tuesday with a Home tie v Sarsfields @715pm.

 

UNDER 12.5

The Under 12.5s had good game last week against Tullysaran. Next game on Saturday at Home v Granemore on Saturday. Training on Wednesday @630pm. NO training on Sunday due to Armagh game.

 

UNDER 10

The Under 10s played An Port Mor at Home on Wednesday night. Training on Wednesday @630pm. NO training on Sunday due to Armagh game.

 

UNDER 8s and 6s

Both teams enjoyed games on Sunday against Granemore. NO training on Sunday due to Armagh game.

 

SUMMER CAMP

The Annual Summer Camp will be held on 21-23 August. The Camp is for boys and girls from P3 (September 17) to current Under 16 players. The cost of the camp is £20 per child, £15 2nd/3rd child etc up to a max of £50 per family. Registration forms available via the Website or Team Coaches. Due to O'Tooles Bar now closed, the Lotto Draw shall be made in the Clubrooms, on Mondays. Sellers are asked to please make your returns by 9pm and assist in the checking of tickets.

 

MONTHLY DRAW

The New Cycle of the Monthly Draw is due to commence on Monday 5 June. This is an invaluable income to the running cost of the Club. Cash prizes on offer every month. Subscription £20 a month. One off ‘Early Bird’ Draw prize for anyone who pays in full on the night. To renew or join, contact any Committee Member.

 

COUCH 2 5K

The Couch 2 5k has now reached Week 6 (W/c 29/05). There is still an opportunity to join as all abilities catered for. The sessions run on Tuesday and Thursdays, 630-7pm and Sundays 10-1030am, within the Club Grounds. (Please park cars in the Church car park on Tuesday & Thursdays so to avoid congestion at Club car park) £1 per run. This is a fantastic initiative which gives people of all ages, both male and female, to get out, get some exercise, enjoy the spring air while supporting the club! Run/walk/jog, whatever suits your ability. 

 

The training is building up to a big 5k event will take place on Saturday 24 June. £10 enter to this 5k run open to ALL new and experienced runners. Updates via the Club Facebook page. BARN DANCE

The Club are running a Barn Dance and BBQ in the Hall on Saturday 24 June. Admission £10 at the door, Music by ‘Limelite’. Tickets available from Committee Members.

 

GOOD LUCK

Good luck to Rory Grugan, Gavin McParland, Jack Grugan, Ryan Kennedy and the entire Armagh panel and management in Sundays Round 1 of the Ulster Championship.

 

Well done to Kieran Hughes who made his Inter County Championship debut whilst playing for London in the Connaght Championship last weekend.

 

ST.BRENDA’S CAMOGIE CLUB

Under 6 - Training Saturday 11 -12noon.

 

Under 8 and 10 - Training on Thursday at 6.30 - 7.45pm at the pitch. First blitz this Saturday 03rd June venue and time TBC.

 

Under 12 - U12s started off their league campaign with a hard fought battle against St Brigids on Saturday past. A fantastic game of camogie with plenty of great skills on display. The Nab just fell short in scores with the Byddis stealing a late goal to win by two points. Note change in training this week to Thursday at 6.30  - 7.45pm.

 

Under 14 - Training Wednesday 7.15- 8.30pm and Saturday morning 12 -1.15pm.

 

Under 16 - Training Wednesday 7.30 - 8.30pm and Saturday morning 12 - 1.30pm. 

 

Seniors - St Brenda's picked up another two league points against Granemore on Wednesday night on a scoreline of 2:12 to 2:6. Next up is a home tie this Wednesday against Middletown at 7pm.

 

Well done - to Senior camog Louise McDonnell who represented St Brenda's in the County Senior poc fada and congrats to under 16 player Ellie McKee who won the poc fada in the under 16 category and goes on to represent Armagh in the All -Ireland poc fada competition. 

 

Congratulations - to the St Brenda's representatives on the Keady High School under 14 football team who won the Ulster Schools Cup on Tuesday past, Clodagh Murphy, Mairead O'Toole, Orlaith Hughes, Annie Doran, Kate Crilly and Kayleigh Mallon. Also, congrats to under 14 camogs Aine Rice and Kate Crilly who won Ulster medals playing for Armagh in the Ulster final against Donegal, Kate Crilly picking up her 2nd Ulster medal in 4 days!!
