John Kelly Director of the Ballymacnab Youth Drama Group and his cast enjoyed a Civic Reception hosted by Armagh City and District Council Lord Mayor Cathy Rafferty in the Palace Armagh. The young actors have recently preformed on the big stage "Big Maggie" a three act play by the great play writer John B Keane in the Marketplace Theatre Armagh. The play told the story of a widow who on the death of her husband was determined to create a better life for herself and her family. But nasty problems did arise when her vision for the future did not sit will with her family. It was a difficult play but the members of the Ballymacnab Youth Drama Group carried it off to perfection much to the appreciation of the audience who gave them a lengthy standing ovation at the end of the performance. Most of this hard working group have being involved in the previous three JB Keane plays " Many Young Men of Twenty", "The Field" and "Sive" winning awards and commendations at the prestigious Lislea Festival and a getting to preform "Many Young Men of Twenty in London. Rehearsals are already underway for next years production "Home Is The Hero" by Walter Macken which is in Armagh Marketplace Theatre on 18th February. A special word of thanks to Lord Mayor Cathy Rafferty for the beautiful evening and don't forget to book tickets for next years performance - tickets would make a nice Christmas present for family and friends to enjoy a night out in February.
