Ballymacnab 2-14 Madden 1-7

Our reserve side travelled the short distance to Madden on Wednesday evening for their 2nd game of the league campaign. The lads got off to a flying start with the first 5 points of the game coming from Ryan Watters (3), Rory Gray and Finnen Maguire. Madden raised a green flag with their next attack to put two points between the sides.

Ballymacnab continued to press forward and two Gareth Watters scores matched two more Madden points while Rory Gray also chipped in with his second minor of the half. This was the final score of the opening 30 minutes with the half time score 0-8 to 1-2, a lot still to play for in the second half.

A Benny Gribben point cancelled Madden’s opening score before Ballymacnab scored a three-pointer of their own, a tap in goal from close range by Joe Gribben after excellent work from Paddy Hughes. Gareth Watters again split the posts before Finnen Maguire burst through the Madden defence with a powerful run and blasted the ball into the back of the net, the score now 2-10 to 1-3.

Watters got another double, followed by two more Madden points, while Benny Gribben roamed forward for his second of the game. Madden got their final two points of the game while Finnen Maguire’s second point ended the game on a score line of 2-14 to 1-7. Star Man Gareth Watters ended the night with 0-5 while Joe Gribben and Rory Gray’s hard work ensured victory for the Round Towers.
