RESERVE LEAGUE (SOUTH)
SILVERBRIDGE 2-12 BALLYMACNAB 3-13
Our Reserves got off to a winning start in the first game of the South League with a 3-13 to 2-12 win away to Silverbridge. Silverbridge were quick out of the blocks and only a good save from Conor McGivern in 1st minute denied the home side a certain goal. Ballymacnab got the first score of the game through a well worked effort from Fearghal Nugent after a good pass by Richard Gribben and followed up with further scores from Oisin Fearon and Aodhan Toner. Ballymacnab continued their early dominance with an individual goal from Kieran Hughes and Fearghal Nugent followed with an opportunistic goal. Silverbridge hit back with a number of points and a goal from a converted penalty. However, Ballymacnab responded with a goal from Gary McKee and points from Aodhan Toner to lead 3-07 to 1-04 at the break. In the second half Silverbridge started strongest and were right back in the game, hitting 1-04 without reply. Gary McKee got his sides first score of the half from a pointed free and only an excellent save from the ‘bridge ‘keeper denied Niall Cosgrove a goal after some good work by Ryan Beagan and Rory Gray. Points from Gary McKee and Rory Gray were traded with the opposition and by the final whistle Ballymacnab had done enough to record the win led by good performances from Gary McKee, Oisin Fearon, Chris Kennedy, Cormac Gribben and Patrick Watters.
