As we near the end of the ‘cut off ‘ date of the Senior League much debate and maybe a little confusion has been taking place over what happens next after league split. We currently have two games left and below will hopefully explain the League structure for the second half of the year.
Immediately after the ‘cut-off’ date for the single round fixtures each League shall be divided into two sections with the top eight teams gaining entry to the Cup competition and the remainder of teams being admitted to the Shield competition.
Cup and Shield games shall be single round with the fixtures being reversed from the 1st round. Points won and scores in the 1st round shall be carried over to the Cup and Shield competitions.
All Leagues including Cup and Shield competitions shall commence and be completed on dates to be specified by the Competitions Control Committee (CCC) prior to the commencement of the competitions and any unplayed fixtures at these dates shall be declared ‘void’.
The Intermediate/Junior Championship winners shall be automatically promoted to the Senior/Intermediate League respectively for the following season.
The top two (2) teams in the Intermediate/Junior Cup shall be promoted to the Senior/Intermediate League and Championship for the following season.
In the event of the Intermediate/Junior Championship winners finishing in the top two of the Junior/Intermediate Cup competition then the third placed team shall also be promoted to the Senior/Intermediate League for the following season.
The bottom three (3) teams in the Senior/Intermediate Shield shall be relegated to the Intermediate/Junior League and Championship respectively for the following season.
In the event of the Senior/Intermediate Champions finishing in the bottom three (3) of the Senior/Intermediate/Junior League then the fourth (4th) bottom team shall also be relegated to the Intermediate/Junior League respectively for the following season
Regulations for Results, Teams finishing on level points, etc.
a) League/Cup/Shield results shall be credited as follows: 2 points for a win, and one for a draw.
b) If a Team is Disqualified or Retires during the course of the League/Cup/Shield, its played Games shall stand and its unplayed Games shall be awarded to the Opposing Teams.
c) Where Teams finish with equal points for Qualification for the Concluding Stages, or for Promotion or Relegation, the tie shall be decided by the following means and in the order specified:
(i) Where two Teams only are involved – the outcome of the meeting of the two Teams in the previous game in the Competition;
(ii) Scoring Difference (subtracting the total Scores Against from total Scores For);
(iii) Highest Total Score For;
(iv) A Play-Off.
Exceptions to (c):
(1) In relation to (ii) and (iii) above; if the accumulated scores of a team, so involved, are affected by a disqualification, loss of game on a proven objection, retirement or walk over, the tie shall be decided by a Play-Off.
The top two (2) teams in the Senior/Intermediate/Junior Cup and Shield competitions shall playoff in a final to decide the winners of each competition
Finals to be played at neutral venues and Extra time, if required in finals. A replay shall take place if scores are level at the end of extra time
