All at the Club and throughout the Community were saddened to learn of the passing of our esteemed President, Pat McGeown, on Sunday 16 April. Pat was extremely well known within the community and further afield, mainly due to his skilled workmanship as a digger driver. Pat was a loyal supporter of the Round Towers down through the years and became actively involved in the Club when he joined the Committee along with his great friend Brendan Gribben in the late 1980s. He was a diligent worker within the Committee through fundraising, particularly the weekly lotto and the bingo. Pat also took his skilled workmanship as a digger driver to Pairc na Gael and carried out a lot of work around the ground at various times down through the years. However, it was cheering on the Boys in Maroon that gave him most pleasure. In later years Pat became involved in the ‘Field Committee’ and was involved in the cutting of the grass and upkeep of the two pitches. It was just reward that at the 2013 AGM Pat was elected President of the Club. An acknowledgement of how much he was held in esteem and respected within the Club. This was further expressed at the large turnout at his funeral of current and past players and Committee members. The Committee, players and Members offer our deepest sympathy to his wife Phyllis, sons Paddy, Paul, Damien and Ryan, daughters Caroline and Joanne, brothers and sisters and entire family circle. A Mhuire na nGael guí ar a shon. Go raibh suaimhneas sioraí ar a anam dílis
