SENIOR LEAGUE SHIELD

Ballymacnab 2-12 Clan na Gael 1-16

A below par performance saw visitors Clan na Gael collect the points in this league tie on Sunday past.

Clans were first out of the blocks with two quick points before Paul Kennedy opened the 'Nab account with a point on the 5th minute. Clans responded with a further two points before a converted Rory Grugan free on the 13th minute. Three minutes later Gavin McParland had the ball in the net when he reacted quickest to a rebound off the post after an initial shot from Rory Grugan. Pauric Gribben put the 'Nab two up with a fisted point before Clans levelled the game with two points in quick succession. Ryan Kennedy kicked a long range effort on the 27th minute but two points for the opposition gave them the edge at the break, 1-04 to 0-08.

The 'Nab came out for the second half in a more urgent mood and a point from Gavin McParland was quickly followed by a goal from Michael Beagan after being set up by Ryan Kennedy. A point from James Gray in between two from Rory Grugan gave their side a six point lead by the 38th minute. Then the game took a vicious swing with Clans hitting 1-6 in the next ten minutes with out reply. The lads now tried to get a grasp of the game and points from Pauric Gribben and Paul Kennedy reduced the deficit. Clans responded with two points but points from Rory Grugan and Ruairí Gribben reduced the deficit once more to a minimum but unfortunately time had beaten them as Clans came away with the win.
