UNDER 14 SHIELD FINAL

Brian Boru 2-09 Madden 3-10

The Under 14 team travelled to Pearse Og Park on Tuesday past to take on Madden in the Division 2 Shield Final. The players knew this would be a difficult assignment as they had met twice this season with each side claiming a victory. However the Boru’s were confident as they were unbeaten in 8 games and knew if they performed they would be very difficult to beat.

Madden started better and lead 1-02 to no score with 15 minutes played. Aidan Davidson then scored a point and this ignited the Boru’s challenge who outscored Madden by 4 points to 1 in the rest of the half to leave the score at the short whistle Brian Boru’s 0-04 Madden 1-03. Again Madden started the 2nd half sharper than their opponents and extended their lead to 5 pts. Midway through the half an Emmett O’Malley goal brought the game to life with some excellent moves by both sides. The game was now in “The Fire” and an outstanding save from Cilléne Fearon kept the Boru’s challenge alive. Another Madden goal was matched by a fantastic run and finish to the net from Simon King to leave the minimum between the sides again. However Madden responded well and another goal was the defining score of the game and Madden won on a scoreline of 3-10 to 2-10.  This was obviously a very disappointing result for the players and management however we would like to Congratulate Madden on their victory and we look forward to meeting them in the years ahead. The game brought an end to our season and the Mgt. would like to thank the players for their efforts throughout the year.
