A frantic finish to this thrilling game saw neighbours Granemore edge out in front in the final minutes and record the win last Friday at the Athletic Grounds in the 1st Round of the Senior Championship.

Granemore raced out in front in the early minutes and had four points on the board before Rory Grugan opened Ballymacnab's account with a point on the 8th minute. Granemore responded with a point immediately but Ballymacnab began to adapt to Granemores defensive unit and pointed frees from Gavin McParland and Brian McCone (2) against a point for Granemore to leave two between the sides at the interval.

Ballymacnab began the second half as they had finished the first and there dominance saw Gavin McParland (2) and Damien McGeown point to put the 'Nab in front for the first time. Further scores were exchanged through points from Brian McCone and Gavin McParland and the opposition to level matters on the 47th minute. A minute later came the only goal of the game when Granemore raced through the 'Nab rear guard. Back came the Round Towers and 3  points from the excellent Rory Grugan levelled the game once more and when Brian McCones fisted a point it looked like the result was swinging towards Ballymacnabs way. With added time approaching Granemore responded with an equaliser and kicked on with the winner in added time.

Although defeated on the night, Ballymacnab put in a good effort over the hour with Chris Loughran, Kevin and Michael Beagan performing well in defence. Brian McCone, Gavin McParland and Damien McGeown used their experience in attack with all getting on the scoresheet, while Rory Grugan gave an exhibition of point taking that was acknowledged by all present.

Ballymacnab now shall meet Madden in the first 'back door' game in the Senior Championship with date and venue TBA.
