Our Seniors suffered their first defeat
of the season on Sunday when neighbours Granemore were the visitors to a damp
Pairc na Gael.
Granemore were quick out of the blocks
hitting 1-1 in the opening 2 minutes. Ballymacnab regrouped and responded well
and were level by the 9th minute through the accuracy of Gavin McParland with
four points. Granemore restored the lead four minutes later but by the 20th
minute Ballymacnab were one ahead through points from Brian McCone (free) and
an excellent turn over from Damien McGeown. Granemore responded with four
unanswered points before some good play between Paul Kennedy and Gavin
McParland resulted in a point for Gavin just before the interval with the
visitors leading 0-7 to 1-6.
In the second half Granemore built on
their lead with a number of points and caught the 'Nab rear guard on two
occasions, hitting two three pointers. Gavin McParland and Brian McCone added
points and when Chris Loughran finished with a neat finished goal, hopes of a
mini revival were raised. Gavin McParland added another point from the dead
ball on the 55th minute and Kieran Hughes caught the Granemore defence napping
when he fired home a goal on the 57th minute. However, two points for the
visitors nearing full time enhanced the margin and recorded the win despite the
best efforts of Kevin Beagan and Kieran Hughes over the hour.
