Gutsy senior win over 'Cruppin (31/05/13)

CARRICKCRUPPIN 2-09 BALLYMACNAB 2-10

A spirited second half performance in which the team game back from a five point deficit to record a deserving one point victory away to Carrickcruppin on Friday night in the Senior League.

The home side got proceedings under way with a point in under a minute. In Ballymacnabs first proper attack Gary McKee give an excellent pass to Rory Grugan and as he rounded the 'keeper he was hauled down and a penalty awarded. Gavin McParland stepped up and finished the kick to the net. Ballymacnab won the resulting kick out with Jack Grugan converting with a point. Carrickcruppin got their second score with a point on the 7th minute before Gavin McParland chipped over a point after collecting a direct pass from Tony McKee. 'Cruppin responded with a point on the 9th minute and followed up with a goal three minutes later but another Gavin McParland point levelled matters after 15 minutes of play. The home side began to dominate the rest of the half, hitting another goal on the 18th minute but points from Jack Grugan and Gavin McParland left their side trailing by just three at the break, 1-05 to 2-05.

Carrickcruppen continued to dominate in the early part of the second half hitting three points, in between a Gavin McParland point. Brian McCone kicked an excellent point before a converted 45 meter kick from Gavin McParland on the 47th minute reduced the deficit to three. At this stage Ryan Kennedy was introduced as a sub, making his first appearance since injury and immediately made an impact fisting a cross ball pass from Kevin Beagan to the back of the net following a sixth point from Gavin McParland. Less than a minute later Ryan Kennedy kicked a point to give a two point advantage with eight minutes remaining. These scores gave everyone a lift as the defence in particular defended admirably and despite another score by 'Cruppin, the 'Nab finished off the game in good style and collected the valuable league points.
