Ballymacnab's participation in the Championship came to an end on Sunday afternoon in Clonmore at the Semi-Final stage, at the hands of Maghery.

A minute’s silence was observed before the game in memory of our former player Pat McParland who passed away recently. When the action began, Ballymacnab got off to a good start with points from Gavin McParland and Jack Grugan in the opening minutes. Maghery got their first score on the 7th minute with a point. In the opening 15 minutes the Nab were playing second fiddle to the loughshore men as they followed up a number of points with a goal on the 21st minute. However, on the 25th minute the Nab rallied together a move and after a parcel block on Gavin McParland’s shot, Jack Grugan reacted quickest and flicked the ball over the head of the advancing keeper and into the empty net. Maghery added a point just before the break to leave them leading 1-2 to 1-5.

In the second half Maghery added three points in quick succession in between a Gavin McParland converted free. Maghery were beginning to dominate and added a further four points in quick succession before scores from Jack Grugan and Gavin McParland reduced the deficit to five by the 48th minute. Maghery finished strong despite Ballymacnab’s best effort and were the deserving winners on the day.

Ruairí Gribben at full back was the Nabs best performer of the day, despite under constant pressure, with Dominic McParland and Gareth Watters also contributing. Upfront Gavin McParland and Jack Grugan took their opportunities that were limited owing to the opposition defence.

Team: Martin O'Hare, Darran Lynch, Ruairí Gribben, Dominic McParland, Damian Gray, Paudi Crilly, Gareth Watters, Ryan Kennedy, Cormac Gribben, Neil Gribben, Brian McClelland, Brendan Toner, Jack Grugan (1-2), Gavin McParland (0-3), Tony McKee. Sub: Niall Cosgrove for N.Gribben.
