The seniors travelled the short distance to Abbey Park to take on Armagh Harps in Round 7 of the Senior ACL. An excellent display from the lads, lead by their superb captain Brian McCone saw the boys in maroon record a deserving four point victory.

Both sides were guilt of squandering a few chances early on but as things began to settle down, Ballymacnab got the first score of the game when Ruairí Gribben high kick was caught by Jack Grugan who lay off to Tony Gribben who directed the ball over the bar. Harps responded with a point but Ballymacnab were back in front on the 10th minute when Joe Gribben collected a break ball and set up Brian McCone for his first score. Not much separated the sides as they exchanged scores Gavin McParland get Ballymacnabs with a free and a long range effort but by the 24th minute the home side had edged in front by two. On the 28th minute came the first goal of the game when Kevin Beagan turned over a Harps attack and James Grays inch perfect pass to Brian McCone, in behind the defence, saw him blast pass the advancing keeper. Just before the interval Jack Grugan showed great awareness when fisting over to leave it 1-5 to 0-6 at the break.

Ballymacnab added to their lead in the second half when Brian McCone masterminded another point and Paul Kennedy kicked a long range effort after some good defensive play from Ruairí Gribben and Kevin Beagan but on the 42nd minute a goal for the Harps
levelled the game. This however did not disrupt the 'Nab's momentum and they quickly hit back with points from Brian McCone and Joe Gribben and two excellent blocks in a row firstly by Dwayne McParland and then by 'keeper Sean Hughes denied any chance of a second goal as Kevin Beagan was on hand to make a goal line clearance also. Harps did respond with a point to leave just the minimum between the sides but the Round Towers finished out the game with points from Brian McCone (2) and Gavin McParland to secure the two points.

A word of thanks to the Harps for facilitating us with the change of time and we wish a speedy recovery to their player Eoin Fields who was injured nearing the end of the game.
