A superb second half performance, (hitting 3-6), from our Minor side saw them clinch the Division II Championship title, the first All County underage for the club on Sunday past. Trailing by two at the break the lads really improved their effort in a second half scoring blitz and were justified winner at the end of 60 minutes.

Amalgamated side Corraghill Blues started the game like a whirlwind an only an excellent save from keeper Conor McGivern denied them a certain goal, at the expense of a 45 meter kick. Corraghill hit two quick points before a long range effort from Brian McClelland opened the Nab's account on the 4th minute. From the resulting kick out the Round Towers went into attack again and Aodhan Toners attempt at a point bounced in front of the keeper. His palmed save saw Jack Grugan pounce on the ball but his effort struck the crossbar, however Fintan Connolly showed great awareness and reaction and kicked the rebound to the net. For the next ten minutes Corraghill played the most of the football, hitting five points without reply before Niall Cosgrove broke their momentum, with a point on the 23rd minute. An excellent long ranged point from Jack Grugan four minutes later reduced the deficit to the minimum. The Blues finished the half with another point to leave Ballymacnab trailing 1-3 to 0-8.

With the resumption of the game, the Nab needed something to kick start them off and into gear and it came in the 33rd minute when Jack Grugan collected a pass in front of goal and fired the ball to the net from around 21 meters. Corraghill responded with four unanswered points to keep them edged in front but this proved to be their last score as the Nab now began to show signs of their capability. Conor Murdoch and Shane McCone chipped in with points a piece before on the 44th minute the Nab were awarded a penalty for a foot block. Jack Grugan stepped up to take the kick and made no mistake drilling the ball low and hard to the net. With the balance now swung back in favour of our lads the management made a number of positional changes and the introduction of Conor Leonard strengthen matters around the middle and on the 52nd minute Conor kicked a long range point. With Paudi Crilly now commanding things in defence and Brian McClelland getting on the ball more the Nab finished in a flurry with Kieran Hughes taking over the scoring threat hitting 1-3 in quick succession. With the Nab now in total control the lads keep their composure right up to the final whistle. After the game, Minor Board Vice chairman presented team Captain Paudi Crilly with the cup to the delight of the large Ballymacnab crowd.

A well deserved victory, guided by the management team of John Kelly, Mickey McGivern, Petey Doran and Declan McClelland. Conor McGivern played a commanding role in goals with a number of saves and clearances. Once again John McManus put in an impressive display at corner back and Paudi Crilly quashed any chance of a Corraghill revival. Brian McClelland, Conor Murdoch and Shane McCone all contributed at an important time. Kieran Hughes finished in a flourish while Jack Grugan proved to be a thorn to the opposition side. Well done to all involved.
