UNDER 18 LEAGUE

St.Peter’s 2-06 Ballymacnab 4-06

The minor team travelled to St. Peter's for their second game after the split in the league on Monday evening. Conor Mackin opened the scoring for the Round Towers before Jack Grugan put them two ahead. St. Peter's kept in touch with Ballymacnab with scores from the dead ball before Aiden Toner rattled home a goal. St. Peter's answered in the best possible form with a goal of their own. The teams swapped scores before the half time whistle blew, the ‘Nab leading by a point at the interval. Ballymacnab came out all guns blazing in the second half with points from Jack Grugan and Kieran Hughes before Hughes hit the ball into the back of the net. St. Peter's knocked over a few points of their own before substitute Finnén Maguire rounded his man and the goalkeeper to get the ‘Nabs third goal of the game. Ballymacnab were now eight in front but the home side got back into the game with a goal and two point in quick succession to put three between the sides. Despite St. Peter's now starting to build momentum, a Jack Grugan goal cancelled any hopes of a come back. Ballymacnab showed a lot of heart right up to the finish to get the two points with great performances from John McManus and Shane McCone who finish the game strong for Ballymacnab.
