Ballymacnab 0-09 Carrickcruppen 0-11

Carrickcruppen were the visitors on Monday evening to complete in the final round of the phase 1 of the Under 18 Division II League. Very little to separate the side levelled at various times throughout but a late surge saw ‘cruppen edge out as the winners by two points. Jack Grugan got Ballymacnab off the mark with a point on the 2nd minute but the visitors quickly responded with two points before a point from Shaun Casey on the 8th minute levelled the game. Kieran Hughes put the ‘Nab back in front before ‘cruppen responded once more with two points. A ‘cruppen point in between a point each from Jack Grugan and Conor Leonard left the sides all square at the interval. Ballymacnab took the initiative at the beginning of the second half with two excellent points from Kieran Hughes while a point for the opposition was cancelled out by a free from Jack Grugan on the 41st minute. With both defences on top and the brilliant Barry Livingstone leading by example the ‘Nab looked to have done enough but in the closing stages of the game three unanswered points saw Carrickcruppen record the win. Both sides will have learned a lot from this game as they progress to the second phase of the league, which commences on Monday 21st. Fixtures to be announced.
