RESERVE CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL

BALLYMACNAB 1-08 HARPS 1-02

Our Reserves made it back to back Championship titles on Saturday evening when they had 6 points to spare over Harps. Played in difficult wet and greasy performances both sides adapted well to play out a keen contest.

Ballymacnab dominated the first 20 minutes both in play and the scoreboard with points from Stephen King, Finnén Maguire, Aodhan Toner and Kieran Hughes. The Harps registered their first score on the 20th minute when their attacker reacted quickest to a shot that came off the upright and scrambled the ball to the net. This gave Harps a much needed lift and a brace of points closely followed to give them a 1-2 to 0-4 lead at the break.

A rejuvenated Ballymacnab side came out all guns blazing in the second half and two long range pointed frees from Aodhan Toner gave them the lead once more, a lead they did not relinquish for the remainder of the game. On the 47th minute came the score of the game when Stephen Kings shot hit the top corner of the net much to the delight of the 'Nab supporters. Late points from Stephen King and Finnén Maguire secured the victory before the final whistle blew.

CCC Secretary Jimmy McKee presented The Cup to Captain Chris Kennedy. Well done to all the players and their management team of Neil McKee, Mickey McGivern and Paddy Murdoch.
