RESERVE CHAMPIONSHIP QUARTER FINAL
BALLYMACNAB 1-09 MADDEN 0-10
The
Reserves qualified for the Semi Final of the Championship on Wednesday night
after a hard fought victory over a gallant Madden side.
Played
before a large crowd in Pairc na Gael, it was the visitors who were most vocal
in the early stage as they began the game with three unanswered points. Conor
Murdoch got Ballymacnab on the scoreboard with a point on the 12th minute.
Madden responded with a point but pointed frees from Finnén Maguire and Kieran
Hughes left just one between the sides by 22nd minute. Once again
the sides went point-to-point with one another with Richard Gribben and Kieran
Hughes getting on the score sheet and by half time Madden lead 6 points to 5.
Ballymacnab
got a much needed lift 4 minutes in the second half when Conor Murdoch finished
to the net for the only goal of the game. Madden responded with a point but
Conor Murdoch grabbed two excellent points to give a three point lead by the 43rd
minute. The final ten minutes proved to be a tight affair as pointed frees from
Kieran Hughes were exchanged with his opposite number but by full time the 'Nab
had done enough to record the victory. Colm McKee was the pick of the 'Nab
defence with some good defending while in attack Conor Murdoch was the major
threat and dully delivered when called upon. Ballymacnab shall now face
Carrickcruppin in the Semi-Final on 25 June. |
