BALLYMACNAB 1-13 ST.PATRICK’S 3-13 Matchball sponsor – Colin McKee
The second game of the weekend saw Cullyhanna the visitors to Pairc na
Gael on Sunday evening. Ballymacnab started brightly with points from Joe
Gribben and Gavin McParland before St.Pat's hit three points in a row. A brace
of points from Pauric Gribben restored the lead but the sides were level three
times over the next 10 minutes with Gavin McParland and Damien McGeown
exchanging points with the opposition attack. A long range point from Brendan
Toner and a converted free from Brian McCone gave the 'Nab a two point lead at
the interval.
St.Pat's got the first score of the restart but another Gavin McParland
free and a point by Brian McCone gave Ballymacnab a three point advantage by
the 35th minute. A minute later Cullyhanna got the first goal of the game and
swung the advantage in their favour as they hit consecutive points and another
goal on the 44th minute. Ballymacnab rallied in the final 15 minutes with
points from Kieran Hughes, Gavin McParland and Pauric Gribben and when Brian
McCone fired the ball to the net five minutes from time it looked as if the
'Nab were going to get something out of the game. However, a third goal for the
visitors saw them get over the line and claim the two league points.
