SENIOR ACL

WOLFE TONES 1-09 BALLYMACNAB 3-13

The seniors travelled to Wolfe Tones on Sunday and an all round team effort saw them record the victory. A strong breeze threaten to disrupt the game but Ballymacnab done enough on the scoreboard in the first half and played a possession game in the second to secure their second win of the season.

Ballymacnab began the game with the assistance of the breeze but it was the home side that scored first, a pointed free. After a number of missed opportunities Gavin McParland got his side off the mark with a point on the 7th minute. Jack Grugan and James Gray added points as the 'Nab began to adapt to the conditions. Brian McCone manufactured his first score of the game on the 15th minute and from the resulting kick out Ballymacnab got their first goal when James Gray collected a breaking ball in midfield and passed to Brian McCone and his inside pass to the on running Jack Grugan saw him fire the ball to the top corner of the net. The 'Nab continued their dominance with points from Brian McCone (3) and Ruairí Gribben and some excellent fielding from Pauric Gribben. On the verge of half time the 'Nab got a second goal when Gavin McParland set up Paul Kennedy and his side step on the keeper saw him finish to the net. A Jack Grugan free left the 'Nab leading 2-10 to 0-01 at the interval.

Ballymacnab knew the second half was going to be a different story as they now face the breeze and the opposition and were given a sudden wake up call when the home side found the net after only 22 seconds from the restart. A Jack Grugan pointed free on the 33rd minute kept the 'Nab score tally intact and with a well
organised defence unit they kept the oppositions scoring opportunities to a minimum drilled and led by Kevin Beagan, Pauric Gribben and Brian McCone. A second Paul Kennedy goal on the 51st minute left the game beyond doubt as he finished off a move of possession football and ensured the collection of the two points.
