SENIOR LEAGUE A

Crossmaglen 2-12 Ballymacnab 0-15

Sunday past saw the commencement of the Senior League and despite a battling performance from our lads, the home side recorded the victory through their ability to convert goal chances. Both sides fielded without regular personnel and with the aid of the breeze Cross' raced into a 5 point lead before a point from Brian McCone on the 19th minute opened the ‘Nab account. Ballymacnab doubled their tally a minute later with a point from Oisin McGivern after some good play from Brendan Gribben. Brian McCone reduced the deficit with two converted frees but a goal against the run of play for the opposition gave them a 1-5 to 0-4 lead at half time.

Ballymacnab made a positive start to the second half with early points from Ryan Kennedy, Oisin McGivern and Brian McCone but Cross hit back with 1-4 without reply. Slowly, Ballymacnab chipped back at the commanding lead through points from Bushy and Joe Gibben and Brian McCone (2). The 'Nab dominated the final ten minutes with the influential Ryan Kennedy now reverting to the midfield berth and points from Brian McCone, Brendan Gribben and Sean McArdle brought proceedings to an end.

Chris Loughran and Sean McArdle had steady performances in defence while in attack their were excellent performances from Ryan Kennedy, Brian McCone and Oisin McGivern while Brendan and Bushy Gribben worked tirelessly over the hour. We wish a speedy recovery to Fearghal Nugent who picked up an injury during the game.
