If ever a game could be classed as a
game of two halves, this was certainly one. Ballymacnab played all the football
in the first half and went into the interval as deserving 1-12 to 0-07 leaders.
However, Dromintee came out in the second half the more hungrier side and by
the final whistle had recorded a 1-16 to 2-15 win.
Ballymacnab made a bright start to the game with
Gavin McParland and Brian McCone (2) getting early points before Dromintee got
off the mark with a point on the 4th minute. Two minutes later,
Paudi Crilly fired his side further ahead with a goal and this was followed
with quick consecutive points from Ryan Kennedy and Gavin McParland before
Dromintee got their second score on the 9th minute. Gavin McParlands
two pointed frees were followed by a point for the visitors before a fisted
point from Ryan Kennedy and a point from Gavin McParland left the 'Nab 1-9 to
0-3 ahead by the 16th minute. Ballymacnab continued their dominance with a
Brian McCone point, in between 3 from the opposition, keeping the scoreboard
busy and only an excellent save from Sean Hughes on the 25th minute, denied a
certain goal. Dromintee did respond with two points before a Gavin McParland
pointed free left 8 at the break.
Dromintee came out for the second half with all
guns blazing and found the net with their first attack. This was followed by a
point and a second goal for the opposition on the 34th minute. A Brian McCone point three minutes
later temporary steadied the 'Nab ship but two points for Dromintee levelled
the game on the 39th minute. Gavin McParland hit back with
point three minutes later but Dromintee took the lead with two unanswered
points. In a tight finish to the game Gavin McParland and Damien McGeown
exchanged points with the opposition but by the final whistle Dromintee had
edged out a two point victory. |
