Ballymacnabs final game in the first series of the league ended in a defeat away to Maghery on Wednesday evening.

The game began at a frantic pace that was to continue for the rest of the half, as Maghery took the early initiative, scoring four points. A point from Pauric Gribben on the 6th minute got the Round Towers off the mark but the home side hit back with two points. Almost immediately a well taken Rory Grugan point kick started the 'Nab into gear and when Pauric Gribben collected an accurate pass from Paul Kennedy, he kicked his second point. With Brian McCone collecting a lot of breaking ball round the middle he was instrumental in Ballymacnabs next scores firstly another point from Rory Grugan which was quickly followed by a clinical goal finished off by Joe Gribben. A point from Pauric Gribben on the 16th minute put Ballymacnab in front for the first time. The resulting kick out was fielded by Sean McArdle and a long kick from Brian McCone saw Rory Grugan palm the ball to his brother Jack and the later finished a neat shot to the net. Rory Grugan and Brian McCone exchanged scores with the home sides attack and by the break Ballymacnab led 2-08 to 0-10.

A pointed free from Brian McCone was followed by a point from Rory Grugan when he was denied a chance of a goal only to be saved by the keeper. Despite the Round Towers now establishing a six point lead they could not build on this as Maghery began to get a grip of things particularly in the midfield berth and successive points left the sides level by the 47th minute. Maghery continued their dominance in the final 10 minutes as the 'Nab could only respond on the scoreboard with a Rory Grugan free as the home side ran out winners by 3 points.
