SENIOR LEAGUE

CARRICKCRUPPEN 1-07 BALLYMACNAB 1-10

Our Seniors travelled to Carrickcruppen on Sunday past for their last game before the holiday break. In a keenly contested contest Ballymacnab finished strongest and claimed the victory by 3 points.

The homeside opened the scoring with a point before Jack Grugan equalised with a point. Carrickcruppen hit the front with a goal on the 18th and followed up with a point a minute later. With both defences on top, scores were at premium with Oisin McGivern getting the Nabs second score on the 25th minute to leave just a goal between the sides at the break.

Brendan Gribben converted an excellent point two minutes from the restart before 'cruppen responded with a point. A Jack Grugan pointed free and a point from Kieran Hughes reduced the deficit by the 36th minute before another point for the homeside. Substitute Dwayne McParland kicked an excellent long range point on the 40th minute. The homeside hit another point to keep out in front before a 50th minute goal from Jack Grugan, after a driven run from Chris Loughran, gave the 'Nab the lead for the first time. Ballymacnab finished strongest and points from Pauric Gribben, Jack Grugan (2) and Kieran Hughes secured the victory as the rearguard withstood the homeside challenge.

Ballymacnab were solid in defence with Dominic McParland and Fearghal Nugent excelling and the introduction of Dwayne McParland brought a much needed balance to the side. Kieran Hughes worked tirelessly in attack while Jack Grugan converted the three pointer when called upon.
