Ballymacnab recorded a victory over Whitecross for the first time in number years at a wet and breezy Pairc na Gael on Friday evening. Underfoot conditions were poor but Ballymacnab deserved the two league points in a low scoring game.

Mainly due to the conditions both teams understandably struggled to get a grasp of the game with scoring chances a minimum but a point on the 8th minute from Michael Beagan opened up the account. It would take another ten minutes for the next score and an equaliser. Ballymacnab edged back in front shortly when Pauric Gribben battled through the Whitecross attack and curled over a good point. Before the half was out, Dominic McParland’s long inspiration run saw only the width of the post deny a certain goal.

A Jack Grugan free on the 38th minute of the second half was closely followed by another from Pauric Gribben. Whitecross responded with two unanswered points to leave just one between the sides but with time added on substitute Ryan Harvey finished off with the final score of the game with a point from 30 meters.

Team: Sean Hughes, Chris Loughran, Dominic McParland, Dwayne McParland, Barry O'Hare, Kevin Beagan, Ruairí Gribben, Paudi Crilly, Pauric Gribben (Capt 0-2), James Gray, Joe Gribben, Richard Gribben, Jack Grugan, Damien McGeown, Michael Beagan (0-1).
