SENIOR LEAGUE

MAGHERY 1-10 BALLYMACNAB 0-13

Our Seniors travelled to the loughshore to take on the challenge of Maghery on Sunday with the resumption of the leagues after the holiday break with a draw proving to be the fairest result at the end of 60 minutes.

Heavy rain throughout the first half left conditions very difficult for both sets of players with scores hard to come by but free scoring being of a premium. Brian McCone and Gavin McParland kept the Round Towers scoreboard ticking over but a 15th minute goal for the home side gave them the advantage at half time, 1-5 to 0-6.

An early point from Maghery edged them further ahead at the beginning of the second half but Brian McCones accurate free taking reduced the deficit to the minimum. Maghery took the initiative once more and went four up with quick successive scores but Ballymacnab dominated the final ten minutes of the game and deserved a share of the spoils with Pauric Gribben, Brian McCone, Gareth Watters and Gavin McParland all getting on the score sheet.

Team: Sean Hughes, Chris Loughran, Dominic McParland, Kevin Beagan, Brendan Gribben, Damien McGeown, Michael Beagan, Brendan Toner, Tony McKee, Gareth Watters (0-1), Brian McCone (Capt 0-5), Fearghal Nugent, Ryan Kennedy, Kieran Hughes, Gavin McParland (0-6). Subs: Pauric Gribben (0-1) for B.Toner, Barry Livingstone for K.Hughes.
