Ballymacnab 1-07 Tir na nOg 0-17

After accumulating our highest tally of league points and with the Championship Quarter Final this weekend, management took the opportunity to rest a number of first team members for our last league game of the season when Tir na nOg were the visitors to Paric na Gael on Friday evening. This did however give those who started an opportunity to stake a claim for a position ahead of the Championship.

Played in wet conditions both sides put in a gallant performance throughout and it was the visitors who took an early lead with three unanswered points before Tony McKee got the 'Nab off the mark with a point on the 9th minute. Tir na nOg hit back before a Finnén Maguire point on the 12th minute reduced the deficit to three. Tir na nOg's accuracy in front of goals saw them increase their lead but points from Kieran Hughes and Gavin McParland clawed the 'Nab back into the game before an excellent strike from Gavin McParland saw the only goal of the game to leave just one between the sides at the interval.

In the second half Tir na nOg raced further ahead with four unanswered points before a Chris Loughran point on the 41st minute got his side off the mark for the half. As the visitors showed a more determined spirit points from Kieran Hughes and Gary McKee increased the 'Nab tally before the full time whistle. There were good performances from Chris Loughran and Brian McClelland in defence with Kieran Hughes most dangerous in attack.
