Clady 1-03 Ballymacnab 1-09

The Under 14s travelled the short distance to near neighbours Clady on Tuesday evening for the First Round of the Championship. In an entertaining game which flowed to and fro a strong finish from the young lads in maroon saw them deservedly run out winners 1-09 to 1-03 and now progress to the Quarter Final.

Pearse Hughes got Ballymacnab off the mark on the 4th minute with a point for the first score of the game. Clady responded with a goal and a point but this did not hinder the 'Nab and points from Ryan Watters (2),
Caoimhín Rafferty and Dara McArdle left them a point up at the break. At the restart a point for the home side levelled matters. Then on the 35th minute came Ballymacnab’s goal when Caoimhín Raffertys long surging run saw him off load to Pearse Hughes who showed great awareness and skill, jinked pass his marker and fire to the net. From then the 'Nab took control and only the breadth of the post denied Conor Lynch with a goal. Points from Ryan Watters and Niall McKee secured the victory aided by saves from 'keeper Sean Eoin Crilly. Overall a good team performance with Tiarnán Smyth, Caoimhin Rafferty, Dara McArdle and Pearse Hughes leading the way.

Team: Sean Eoin Curry, Conor Dougan,
