UNDER 16 LEAGUE

Grange 2-10 Ballymacnab 3-09

The Under 16 side went to Grange on Thursday evening for their last league game of the year. Early points from Shaun Casey (2), Eoin Smyth and Oisin McGivern gave Ballymacnab an early lead. Grange then opened their account through a point. Two more Shaun Casey points followed by another Grange point put four between the sides. Oisin McGivern then coolly converted a penalty after Finnén Maguire had been fouled. Two more Grange scores left five in the game before a superb Michael Gribben point followed by a Shaun Casey point from the dead ball ended the half with Ballymacnab leading 1-08 to 4 at the break. Grange got off to a blistering start, blitzing 2-4 before Shaun Casey levelled the game with a goal. Grange edged in front once more with a point before another Ballymacnab goal from Finnén Maguire followed by a Brendan Kennedy point left the visitors three up. Grange tagged on another point but it was too late as the final whistle blew with Ballymacnab winning 3-09 to 2-10 with the lads doing well to hold out from a comeback from the Grange. A man of the match performance from Oisin O'Hare in nets and brilliant displays all over the field insured the victory for the Nab. The sides will meet once again in the Semi Final of the Shield when another interesting encounter is guaranteed.
