St.Brigids 1-08 Ballymacnab 3-07

The Under 16's travelled to Poyntzpass on Thursday for their game against amalgamated side St Brigids. Ballymacnab opened the scoring with a Shaun Casey point before St Brigids got a point of their own. Stephen King then got his first to but Ballymacnab in front by one. Their lead didn't last long however as St Brigids got two points. Finnén Maguire then got forward and levelled matters before a Michael O'Hare goal but the Nab in front. Again St Brigids responded quickly with a point and followed with a goal to go back in front. Stephen King got his second of the evening from the dead ball and Oisin McGivern got the last score of the half to but the visitors in the lead 1-5 to 1-4. An immense Josh McGeown point opened the scoring for the second half before Finnén Maguire scored a goal to stretch the Nab's lead to 5. Finnén caught the ball from the resulting kick out and from 45 metres out he chipped the St Brigids goalkeeper to put 8 between the sides. Stephen King then added another point to leave the score 3-7 to 1-4. St Brigids then got their first point of the half as Ballymacnab started to let St Brigids back in the game. St Brigids added a further three points before the final whistle sounded. The full time score was Ballymacnab 3-7 to St Brigids 1-8. A good display from the lads with great performances coming from Josh McGeown in midfield and Oisin McGivern in the full forward line. A welcome return was received for Eoin Smyth who made his first appearance after a long lay off injured.
