UNDER 16 LEAGUE DIVISION II

Mullaghbawn 5-02 Ballymacnab 2-11

Our Under 16s travelled to Mullaghbawn on Thursday past for a league fixture. Ballymacnab opened the scoring through an Oisin McGivern point before Stephen King put two between the sides. Mullaghbawn then got off the mark with a goal before Ballymacnab got one of their own through Michael O'Hare when he palmed the ball into the back of the net after his first effort was saved. Ballymacnab then got two more points through Oisin McGivern and Shaun Casey before Mullaghbawn got their second score of the game and a second goal. Mullaghbawn added a point before raising another green flag. Stephen King ended the scoring for the first half with a pointed free which left the half time score at 1-5 to 3-1 in favour of the home side. Mullaghbawn got off to a perfect start in the second half with a fourth goal before Oisin McGivern split the posts once again to leave the margin at four points. Mullaghbawn then went 7 up with another goal before Stephen King scored from the dead ball. A high, dangerous ball into the square and was palmed down to Stephen King by Michael O'Hare. King was left one on one with the goalkeeper and he rattled the back of the net to leave three between the sides. Another pointed free from King got Ballymacnab right back in the game. Mullaghbawn got a point of their own before Stephen King again raised a white flag from a placed ball. In an exciting finish Oisin McGivern added his fourth point of the match before Shaun Casey levelled the sides. Mullaghbawn had one more attempt to win the game but a brilliant save from the goalkeeper Oisin O'Hare denied them the opportunity. This ended the game and the final score was 2-11 to 5-2. A brilliant second half display from the team and got a well deserved point out of the game.
