UNDER 18 LEAGUE DIVISION II SOUTH

Madden 3-06 Ballymacnab 2-12

Our minor team opened their league campaign when they defeated Madden on Monday evening. Kieran Hughes opened the scoring early on with a point before Madden levelled. Madden then went one up before Hughes hit 1-1 in quick succession to put his side three ahead. A Shaun Casey point stretched the ‘Nabs lead before Madden added two of their own. Stephen McGuigan and Kieran Hughes (2) then got scores before Madden came back with a goal. Ballymacnab finished the half stronger however with pointed frees from Aodhan Toner and Kieran Hughes left Ballymacnab leading by four at the interval. Madden started the second half in superb fashion scoring 1-1 to level the game. Hughes once more scored from the dead ball before Tiernan McArdle scored the ‘Nabs second goal. Four points was the margin when Madden got a third goal followed by a point to level the game at 2-9 to 3-6. Once more Ballymacnab finished the half on top with points from Conor Mackin and Kieran Hughes bringing the game to an end. A good start for the season ahead with the 'Nabs star performers on the night being Brendan Kennedy and Oisin Fearon in defence and Shaun Casey and Kieran Hughes in attack.
