UNDER 21 ROUND 1 The U21 faced Harps in the new Round Robin Championship on
Sunday afternoon and despite a good comeback in the second half it was not
enough as the home side grinned out the victory. Harps dominated the first half
and led 2-09 to 0-06 at the interval with Gareth Watters (2), Jack Grugan (2),
Brendan and Aodhan Toner grabbing the 'Nab scores. In the second half converted
frees from Brendan Toner and Jack Grugan were exchanged with two for the
opposition in the early period of the half. A point blank save from Conor
McGivern on the 40th minute inspired an attack which finished with
Brendan Toner drilling home a goal from 21 yards out. Finnén
Maguire followed up with a point before Jack Grugan showed great awareness and
accuracy to lob the 'keeper from all of 40 yards to reduce the deficit to an
amazing 3 points. Points were exchanged through scores from Jack Grugan and
Kieran Hughes with the Harps attack once more but a 53rd minute goal
for the home side saw them finish the strongest and record the win. |
