Bottom of the table Carrickcruppen were the visitors to Pairc na nGael on Friday evening. On the evening despite having their fare percentage of the ball, a below par Ballymacnab side came up against a more determined and ruthless opponent and they were the deserving winners on the night.

Things had started ominously for Ryan Kennedy finished of the Round Towers when a move began by Barry O’Hare and involving Rory Grugan and James Gray, for the first score after 2 minutes. Cruppen responded with a point before a well taken point from Kevin Beagan restored the lead once more on the 5th minute. On the 6th  minute some slack marking by the Nab defence saw them being punished with a goal for the visitors. The Nab however responded well with three unanswered points from two converted frees by Rory Grugan in between one from Pauric Gribben. The sides exchanged scores midway through the half, with another free from Rory Grugan and a fisted point from Pauric Gribben to leave the sides level nearing half time but the Nab were rocketed before the interval when Cruppen hit 1-1 to leave them leading 0-7 to 2-5.

The visitors went further ahead at the beginning of the second half with two unanswered points but on the 35th minute the Nab were given a lifeline when they were awarded a penalty for a foot block by the opposition keeper. Gavin McParland confidently stepped up and drilled the ball pass the keeper. Cruppen responded with four points in between a pointed free from Rory Grugan. On the 51st a rare long pass into the Nab attack saw Rory Grugan collect a ball in front of goal and he turned and fired the ball to the roof of the net with an executed finish to leave just three between the sides and very much in the game. Cruppen however showed the greater composer and finished with further points and a third goal. A second penalty for Gavin McParland was saved at the death and just about summed up the Nab's night. Best for the Nab on the night were Richard and Joe Gribben.
